Vaping has saved the lives of over 10 million people that it has helped get off cigarettes! Banning an adult product does a terrible disservice to ADULTS! As someone who smoked 19 yrs and got throat cancer at 29 vaping saved my life! Had vaping not been available I would still be smoking, and possibly dead!!
I oppose the flavor ban because it will do more harm than good. As a former adult cigarette smoker, these flavors helped me quit cigarettes completely. I feel that it is vital for American's to quit smoking and I know that imposing harsher fines to shops would do more justice than to have a prohibition of E-liquid. This will cause a black market to cause inevitable harm to the public users of e-cigarettes. As a community we should focus on educating our youth and imposing harsher fines.
As a former smoker I strongly believe vaping provided me a much more cleaner alternative, Over the thousands of unknown chemicals I was pumping in my body, a pack a day at a time. Now to completely ban/limit the use or sale of vape is beyond me, why resort to having everyone transition to smoking cigarettes again? Not to mention the amount of jobs/businesses that will be lost in the process. Similar to my story, ask any vaper what FLAVOR they used to get off cigarettes.
listen, can you buy a vibrator at just any regular store? gas station? No. you buy it as an adult at a store dedicated to adult products. Solution - sell this vape stuff at vape stores ONLY. not hard is it.
Why are we wasting time and money on an issues that makes no sense. Prohibition of an adult product will only lead to higher dangers from black market sells. Which seems to be the strings of issues we have seen as of late. There are bigger problems that the tax payer money can be used on. The president has already stated that he’s working this issue with the FDA on a federal level.

Not only will the ban forced many adults back to tradition cigarettes, but will also push this community into a prohibition. This will be detrimental to public health; these adults will fall victim to the harm of combustible cigarettes (responsible for 480 thousand deaths per year) and possibly be a victim of black market E-liquid.

I'm a small business owner and have been operating in the city for almost 7 years, however if this flavor ban goes into effect, I would bet that a lot of people that I've helped get off of traditional combustible cigarettes unfortunately would go back to them. Hi Name is Phil, I am a consumer of flavored Eliquid. I use flavors to kick my habit of traditional cigarettes. I have tried everything from patches to gums. Vaping was the only way I can regulate my intake of nicotine, due to the options of levels of nicotine in each bottle. Vaping helped my health as well, I can breath easier and taste food again! I am looking for compassion from the council members and Mayor, for the ex-smokers that used flavors vape to become healthier citizens of San Jose.
I oppose the banning of flavored e-cigarettes. I was a traditional cigarette smoker for 5 years. Before vaping, I used everything to try to get off cigarettes. I tried Gum, Patches, lozenges & therapy. But none of it worked, until I started vaping flavored e-cigarettes. Now with the help of flavored e-cigarettes, I haven't touched a traditional cigarette in 4 years. My health is way better, I'm healthier for my kids and I try everyday to help others kick the bad habit that I had as well. Thanks!
I know alot of kids are getting into vaping but we need to stop online sales and designated specialty stores that are 21 even to enter and not these gas stations or liquor store for these kids are buy chips and soda and see marketing at the register with tobacco products. Dont hurt the older adults who are trying and are quiting cigarettes from flavors or the e-cigarettes devices completely. I myself am a smoker from cigarettes and never want to return back.

If the ban of flavors were to pass not only will many jobs be lost and small business close, but other honest, loving members of society will not even have the chance at harm reduction to themselves or the people around them.
I believe the Council would be wasting time and taxpayer resources pursuing a flavor ban.
These vapor products are highly regulated with strict penalties for underage sales.
Youth use stems from black market sales, not from legal retail businesses.
Creating a larger black market by banning flavors would be counterproductive to the end goal.
Taking away flavors would drive thousands of smokers back to cigs, inevitable resulting in the deaths of 50% of smokers.
Don't sign their death warrants.
What's interesting is, we are all in fear and pain right now. One way forward is a focus on boosting reduced-harm alternatives to smoking such as vaping etc. Even replacing mandatory health warnings (we're already groomed to know nicotine is addictive) with positive messages of using less harmful products. I strongly disagree with blaming vape flavors for attracting kids to use them. I'm an adult, I have tastebuds too, and I enjoy flavors. I ask that our great city looks at the big picture.

There are 13mil vapers in the US with 85% switched using flavored products. We have laws! Enforce It! Save Adults Smokers!
I want to urge the committee to approve Councilmember Carrasco’s recommendations that will protect our communities from e-cigarettes and flavored tobacco products. It is necessary the city of San Jose takes action to limit the high concentration of tobacco retailers in our low-income and communities of color, which tobacco companies purposely target. As a former smoker I know flavored tobacco attracts young people, our city should support state legislation to prohibit flavored tobacco sales.
