SEE ITEM: 6.1 "Submit Letter to VTA In Affirmation and Preservation of Funding for Planned
Highway and Streets Projects with Committed VTA Measure B Tax Dollars."
REQUIRES A DETERMINATION BY A TWO-THIRDS (2/3) VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL PRESENT AT THE MEETING, OR, IF LESS THAN TWO-THIRDS (2/3) OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL ARE PRESENT AT THE MEETING, A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THOSE MEMBERS PRESENT THAT THERE IS A NEED TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION.
Council's Rules of Conduct, Resolution No. 78145, Rule 3(d) (8 votes required).
After hearing requests from members of the public for months, in October 2019, Sup. Chavez made a referral asking VTA staff to present options for improving bus service via a Measure B reallocation. In an attempt to block the reallocation four CMs signed a memo asking the SJ City Council to send a letter to the VTA board against it. Please vote against placing item 6.1 on the agenda. It is too premature for the city council to take a stand on this since VTA has not heard this item yet.
