I rent rooms for $315/month close to SJSU. I am retired and depend on the rent to supplement my social security. I already pay the same amount per room I rent for the rent adjudication program as a landlord renting a two bedroom apartment for $3000/month. Please don't assume that all landlords are rich corporations gouging renters for every last dollar.
I am a property owner in San Jose who has worked hard to care for my house and the residents who call my house home. I know a lot of tenants got impacted by COVID-19. However, this is same for property owners. We got mortgage to pay as well, not to mention property tax, insurance and maintenance.People who lost their job can get 40% of their salary, plus $600 per week. It is not fair. We need help to pay our bills too. I oppose the "rent suspension"
I oppose rent suspension, landlords have to pay bills and mortgages too.
