I am writing to oppose requiring citizens to wear face masks in public. There are numerous people with underlying health conditions that the wearing of masks would adversely impact their ability to breathe, and reintroducing the bacteria into their lungs, and to inhale a larger percentage of CO2. The masks could also be a choking hazard for young children. Scientific studies have shown that the masks used by the general public actually increase respiratory infections rather than reduce them.

Standard cloth masks are unhealthy for prolonged use, as stated on the boxes. They aren't respirators..children especially shouldn't be expected to know how to maintain their own breathing and reactions with these cloth masks on. Face masks: reduces oxygen up to 60%
    increases risk of C02 poisoning
viruses and bacteria saturate the outside
contaminants sit within masks fibers, and then reinhaled

    San Jose protect your people!!!

I STRONGLY oppose a mandate to make San Jose residents wear face masks whenever we are outside. This is not only an outrageous violation of our civil liberties, but is is completely unenforceable! The CDC DOES NOT propose making people wear masks. Nor is there scientific evidence confirming without A LOT of doubt the efficacy of face coverings. On the contrary, research shows masks can lead to reduced immunity and cause us to inhale bacteria and other toxins due to lack of
    air circulation.
