I am outraged by the violent police force used during local protests in support of the Movement for Black Lives. How will you hold officers accountable and seek justice for injured citizens like Derrick Sanderlin? I stand with many antiracist members of our community that have called for ongoing measures to defund San Jose Police. These funds should be invested in, but not limited to, social services, mental health, and community education that is led by and directly benefits Black residents.
