I've been a resident of Silicon Valley for 53 years. In all that time, San Jose has always been the unkept stepchild of SF. If the city is committed to becoming a safe and attractive destination for the public and businesses then it must clean up the filth (i.e. trash, graffiti, disrepair of infrastructure, etc.). Thank you for your work in support of our arts ecosystem in San Jose. The performing arts and arts businesses are critical to a healthy city - financially, socially, and emotionally. Please prioritize funding the Office of Cultural Affairs it's affiliated arts grants programs so that we in the arts sector can help jumpstart the San Jose economy when it is safe for all of us to return.

I oppose cutting the library hours. With all the social racism that is in the news right now, what a better solution than to continue the library programs that include all diverse peoples. Keep libraries open for programs like homework help, conversation club, family learning center, Teen's Reach, citizenship, and more. More days....more hours. Please.

I oppose cutting the budget for the San Jose Public Libraries. Cutting the budget would mean less staff and less hours resulting in less support to our communities, especially to the youth. Libraries provide free resources that everyone has access to. Libraries provide beneficial programs that neighborhoods would not have available otherwise. We need these safe places for our children to get help with homework, our youth to volunteer at and get career counseling, and for book lovers to read.
