As a follow-up to my 11/7 email, I urge the City Council to adopt the "Carbon Neutral San José by 2030" Resolution to address the climate crisis and move us toward a clean-energy future.
San Jose’s Building Department is not familiar or trained on the new technology that is required for building electrification. It takes 3-6 months to get a permit and inspection for a simple home solar and battery storage system using UL listed equipment. At Cinnamon Energy Systems, we have over a dozen San Jose customers who cannot get an inspection or operate their systems.
I urge the San Jose City council to support this zero carbon initiative, including measures to reduce emissions from San Jose residents. Policies that contribute to lower carbon emissions should be encouraged including practices like working from home a few days a week, express/rapid rail and bus services for commuters, hub & spoke distribution systems to reduce the number of 18 wheelers on city streets, charging station infrastructure. etc. SJ should coordinate with other SCC cities also.
As a Willow Glen neighborhood resident and chair of the Climate Reality Project: Silicon Valley chapter, I represent 292 members and 72 San Jose residents that support Carbon Neutral San Jose by 2030 resolution approval. San Jose's leadership places us vanguard of communities committed to rapid emission reduction as a role model for accelerated action across the nation. This moment is precious to help safeguard the future of many generations. Please vote yes to support the resolution.
I strongly support and urge San Jose City Council to adopt Carbon Neutral San Jose by 2030 resolution. We need to act quickly to ensure that we protect future generations from the costly and harmful impacts of climate change. Let’s ensure we focus on carbon free energy on a 24/7 basis and use the incredible breadth of knowledge in Silicon Valley to create novel and less expensive energy storage.
I fully support and strongly urge the City Council to adopt a Carbon Neutral San Jose by 2030 resolution. Our largest cities need to lead and set the example for all the smaller ones.
NRDC, along with many other organizations, has submitted a letter of support for the passage of the San José Carbon Neutral by 2030 Resolution. San José residents are already suffering from the impacts of the climate crisis--residents need this bold action now.
Your approval of this resolution will reinforce San José’s reputation as a U.S. leader on climate action and cities across the country can learn from and replicate San Jose’s ambitious policies.
Please add my name to the list of supporters of helping to make San Jose climate smart, one small step at time.
