Please restore funding for pre-pandemic operating hours and staffing for the San Jose Public Library. As we recover from the pandemic, we must acknowledge the growing divides in our community. Our libraries are one place that all community members can feel welcomed and supported. The Library offers access to information and programs for community members in every stage of their lives. Fully restoring Library funding shows good stewardship of investments San Jose has made over many years.

We can't begin to approach having a fully recovered San Jose without fully restoring library hours and adding Sunday hours. San Jose Public Library supports the community and that close connection means that it can direct resources accordingly and anticipate community needs. It touches every aspect of people's lives. The Library has been a leader for the City with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Fully restoring library funding is essential for the future resilience of our City.

One of the ways to build a resilient, equitable, and safe San Jose is by opening up all the public libraries for more hours in the evening and weekend. Vibrant public libraries encourage community building, continued education, workforce development, and inspiration to follow our own curiosity in a way that provides opportunities for everyone to thrive. Please restore funding for the Library to be open and fully staffed to at least pre-pandemic levels.

As a regular "friends of the library" contributor, I encourage you to fully restore our San Jose Libraries open hours. We have beautiful libraries, and it's a fantastic resource for everyone in our community to read, learn and promote engagement in our city and neighborhoods.

Please restore previous budget cuts for the San Jose library. We need a fully funded library for our community. It serves a very important function and must have full funding to be able to offer all the services. As a member of the library and San Jose community I urge the mayor to prioritize the budgets for this area. Thanks.

I am writing in support of full funding for the San Jose Public Library. As an ongoing user of public library services, I view expanded access to the Library’s many services and to the valued treasures it shepherds an important part of community vitality. Fully restore the Library’s open hours!
