I want to show my support and let others know Tamien Nation is the aboriginal tribe of the Santa Clara valley. I stand by the city and their decision to NOT move forward with the land acknowledgment. Muwekma is NOT the aboriginal tribe of Santa Clara Valley. refer to BIA map. They have stated multiple times they are San Francsico Eastbay. Married in ties doesn't give them right to claim our homelands. we have the utmost confidence in the City of San Jose to continue to make the right decisions.
We are adamantly opposed to the verbiage “allow residents who are not electors and/or citizens to serve on the Planning, Civil Service, and Salary Setting Commissions” to be added in this taxpayer-funded measure. Being a US citizen affords us the opportunity to vote and should be a goal, not a free gift handed out to anyone or everyone. We urge the Mayor and each Council member to vote to remove that portion of this proposed measure.
