I am a registered voter in affordable housing in District 3, and a leader in Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee. We support the recommendation for Tenant Right to Counsel in eviction cases to ensure due process and/or mediation to help prevent tenants from falling into homelessness. This is recommended in San Jose's Housing Element for RHNA and part of the overall Anti-Displacement Strategy. We also support COPA to preserve existing affordable housing and decriminalization of homelessness.

The RiPS process was created from San Jose residents' experiences, community poured their time and energy into this process and its results need to be core to your priority setting. I support the Torres memo that the City begin assessment, eval and planning towards establishing a pilot community-based gender violence response alternative and invest $400,000 in it. I support other RiPS recommendations designed to reduce interactions with the police such as traffic safety redesign and Vision Zero.
