I oppose. This process will not be good to property owners who wants to sell quickly at fair market value with a monopoly buyer, corporate non-profit. It will increase San Jose administration expenses. It is a violation of property owners rights.

We need to counter the speculative real estate market which has caused so many rents and housing prices to rise. This is what has truly hurt working people, families, seniors, disabled, veterans. Just ask those in overcrowded conditions, couch surfing, or out on the streets. It is unconscionable to allow such conditions to continue. This is a way to prevent displacement and the forced exodus of our community members who can't continue to live and work in San Jose.

Requiring sellers to offer properties to non-investor buyers or controlling who a seller sells his/her property is bad business, it hurts hard working people and is bad for taxes. There instances where sellers need to sell fast or need a fast close of escrow for financial reasons or hardships and putting a buyer in escrow that may take beyond 30 days to close or may not be able to close the transaction it would harm the seller and is bad for business.
