5.2 23-546 Actions Related to the Pre-Development Agreement for the 10183 - Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain: Diridon Station to Airport Connector Project.
This proposed project conflicts with achieving a seamless bay area transit system. It requires large capital investment on infrastructure that can only support a transit mode that is not easily scalable. This project could turn out similar to Tesla's Las Vegas Loop: low ridership due to its limited capacity and slow speed. This project cannot beat existing ride hail or alternative transit options and city resources should be aimed to projects with benefits less ethereal. D6 Resident.

The <a href=https://www.airfleetrating.com/airport-codes/birmingham-shuttlesworth-international-airport/>Birmingham airport code</a>, also known as the International Air Transport Association (IATA) code for this British airport, is BHX. Birmingham Airport is located in Solihull, England and serves as a major regional hub in the West Midlands area. I

Please do not use these pods to implement the connector. They're unproven, have many failure points, and are incredibly inefficient. It would be better if (1) the city worked with VTA on Bus Rapid Transit/Light rail to SJC; (2) worked with VTA to reduce headways and extend service hours; or (3) used proven technology like SFO's airtrain or the OAK connector to build a better and more reliable people mover.
I hope you understand my concerns and vote for what is best for San Jose.

I fly frequently and, despite living closer to SJC, I often fly out of SFO because the better transit connection. While a more practical connection to SJC is needed, the overall concept persued in this project (both the routing and "personal transit" (sic) technology) is ill-formed. Please consider advancing real, practical transit options, like (1) increasing existing bus and rail services and/or (2) exploring a traditional automated people mover that integrates with existing infrastructure.
Please consider more closely coordinating your plans with the long-considered and thoughtful plans of VTA to connect the airport to other transit systems. The fact that VTA is not a sponsor of this project speaks volumes. — from a former longtime resident of San Jose, who still uses SJC
Giving money to companies for unproven technologies and potentially hamstringing the growth of the airport, the city and our transit connections is quite possibly the worst decision you could make. Please rely on proven, robust, transit options. Dedicated BRT, a VTA light rail extension or even a stylized BART Oakland airport connector would all be much much better options to put into place.
Las Vegas got swindled by the Boring Company and Elon, do not let San Jose be another city fooled.
Please reject the proposed transit solution for connection between SJC and Diridon Station. Dedicating new construction for an unscalable system that can only theoretically carry 4 passengers at a time is a waste of our transit budget. Many of the problems the pod system is attempting to solve could be solved with a new bus line on our existing roads, which can accommodate higher capacity and be outfitted with luggage racks.
Please reject the pod proposal for the Diridon-SJC connector. I'm a regular transit rider; however, I have grave concerns over this untested, unscalable, small capacity technology.
Please ensure any proposal can provide the following:
* Wide/strong enough roadways to support buses if the company goes bust.
* Large enough vehicles to fit families with luggage *and* wheelchair users.
* Place to put luggage so it doesn't roll around and bang your legs during the ride.
