I support raises. It's time to give staff somewhat competitive wages that will make it less difficult for them to afford to work here, and attract talent to vacant positions
I oppose reduction of PRNS positions and VivaCalle funding. Shame on the city manager + mayor for threatening the city's best programs in an attempt to turn public opinion against fair wages. I want alternative proposals from other councilmembers. The memo from Cohen et al is better than the original, but still insufficient
I implore you not to make cuts to the San Jose Parks, Recreation & Neighborhood Services department. It is imperative that we have open, green spaces in our city, as well as placemaking events such as Viva Calle, which is easily one of the best events San Jose hosts. These "third places" in our parks and neighborhood events are vital to making a big city feel more connected and activated, and establish San Jose as a place with fun things to do. I hope you'll reconsider any budget cuts to PRNS.
