In the name of progress, we were asked to accept the Urban Village plan, along with the inevitable increase in development. Our neighborhood made sacrifices to allow for larger population densities, higher building height limits, and higher site planes that block out sunlight. Now we are being asked to sacrifice too much. This would set a horrible precedent and greatly reduce our quality of life.
We oppose a proposal that could undermine government transparency. The Urban Village Plan was the result of thoughtful collaboration. To amend it without that same thoughtful process could have the effect of lessening trust in government and reduce future community participation. We support a hotel that adheres to the Urban Village Plan that was thoughtfully conceived and approved by the community and city hall. The commercial building next door is empty, could that be a hotel?
