Xin số đề kiểu Thái Lan một trong những hình thức kỳ lạ
Những người được coi là “bậc thầy” trong việc đánh xổ số có muôn ngàn cách để có được những con số may mắn. Có thể đó là con số của một biển số ô tô, xe máy họ nhìn thấy trên đường, có thể là ngày tháng kỉ niệm của những người thân của họ….nhưng ở Thái Lan, còn một cách xin số đề nữa khiến nhiều người hoài nghi đó là “xin hồn” người chết cho số đề.

Theo quan niệm của người Thái Lan, những tai họa như tai nạn giao thông hay thảm kịch càng đáng sợ càng khiến cho hồn người chết linh thiêng hơn trong việc “cho” số đề, và với những người hay chơi số đề ở đất nước này, nếu xin được số của những người đã chết vì tai nạn ấy lại là một điều may mắn.
Sau mỗi vụ tai nạn giao thông hay các vụ tai nạn tương tự, người ta thường ghi lại biển số xe gặp nạn, số đường xảy ra tai nạn hoặc những con số có liên quan đến người gặp nạn để đánh số đề. Có thể những người bình thường như chúng ta khi nghe chuyện này thì cho rằng đó là hành vi thiếu tôn trọng đối với người đã mất.
Còn đối với những người chơi số đề như vậy, họ cho rằng đó không phải là việc gì quá đáng không thể tha thứ cả. Một số nhà báo, nhà phê bình của Thái Lan cho biết, người dân nước họ, đặc biệt là những người dân sống ở vùng thôn quê rất tin vào những chuyện như hồn vía, ma quỷ….
Nhưng đó chỉ là một biểu hiện của sự mê tín dị đoan và tất nhiên, nó cũng không mang lại may mắn như những gì người ta vẫn đồn thổi. Không thể nhầm lẫn giữa xổ số và số đề, xổ số thì hợp pháp, được nhà nước đứng ra tổ chức kiểm tra, còn số đề thì không, số đề cũng là một cách đánh cờ bạc trái phép.
Dù ở Thái Lan cũng có xổ số kiến thiết và cũng được nhà nước rót vốn cho phép lưu hành, thế nhưng số đề lại là loại hình được người dân thịnh hành hơn. Mà nguyên nhân chính là do xác suất trúng thưởng của số đề cao hơn xổ số. Nếu xác suất trúng thưởng của xổ số là 1/1 triệu thì xác suất trúng của số đề lại là 1/100.

Mặc dù số đề là một hình thức cờ bạc trái phép và là một trong những nguồn của nạn tham nhũng vặt nhưng cảnh sát ở đất nước này lại cố tình làm lơ, bỏ qua. Theo tính toán thì có đến 1/3 dân số nước này chơi số đề. Điều đáng quan ngại hơn đó là, các miếu thờ được lập để người dân tới xin số có ở khắp mọi nơi.
Trong đó, có miếu còn được lập ngay trong chính tầng trên của một sở cảnh sát, hàng ngày người dân đến sở cảnh sát không phải để trình báo vụ việc gì cả mà là để viếng miếu và xin số.
