The idea of caring for mental health, providing jobs & housing is great but I do share the concerns of my neighbors. 176 units on this small piece of land seems like a lot and I believe a better location like Fairgrounds should be chosen.
This will only pass because of covid restrictions keeping us from attending a real meeting with the whole neighborhood present. No one wants it besides all you members who live miles away. This is not a solution this is a band aid that's going to fall off and become a piece of trash in our community. My lovely counsel member from district 2 says if this is not the solution then come up with one. From what he said 1/3 have psychiatric problems.Open a Psychiatric facility, fixed 33% of our problem
We don’t want these Homeless in our Neighborhood. No Jobs in area, No Job training in area, no access to Light rail. Crimes are running rampant from these people. No respect for them and filthy habitats!

This is resulting in an adverse effect on public safety & a decrease in our property values. This location is not the right location. Please consider options that are not adjacent to homes, a library and schools.
I completely oppose this idea. I work from home & see all of it. The drug dealing, the fire crackers going off day and night, the trash that is discarded left in right. The drinking that occurs early morning & them passed out on Lost Trail Court. If the councilmen & Sergio had any clue, they & he would too. Unfortunately no one sees the motorcycle guy showing up at 9pm during the week. Stays for 15 minutes & leaves. Place it in your front yard before you try to have us accept it.
We have experienced repetitive situations with residents on the lot on Branham & Monterey. Nightly/On-going: fighting, screaming, loud music, burning of toxic items, drug use, drug needles, public intoxication, public indecency, urination, defecation on our property, vandalism, dumping of garbage, water theft, property damage, auto break-ins, vehicle theft, verbal abuse & confrontations & fires. The community has requested the city’s assistance in addressing these issues without success.
I oppose the emergency housing initiative. The city needs to find a place elsewhere. This is a residential area and building this project will lead to an increase in crime in the area, leading to an unsafe neighborhood and also decrease the value of our homes.
I oppose construction of 176 temporary housing units on the corner of Branham and Monterey. The site is too small, and too close to school, library, and residential homes.
I support the purchase or leasing of motels/hotels to house the homeless, as well as using large sites for temporary housing, like Santa Clara County Fairgrounds.
I live directly behind the area on Monterey & Branham. I OPPOSE the plan for 176 units to be placed here. There is enough problems over here & plenty of other places NOT close to schools, library and homes.The homeless are already causing drop in home values, this would be making them drop even more. We opposed this same sort of plan years ago.There are PLENTY of another places in San Jose for them to be placed - San Jose has plenty of room. We already have high rate of crime in this area!
I strongly OPPOSE building any EIHC that is directly adjacent to existing homes. We had overwhelmingly opposed building of tiny homes on the same lot a couple years ago and we are prepared to do the same again. We are done with the city harassing the tax paying residents of Frontier village time and again. I support building EIHC that has some setbacks from residential communities, libraries and schools.
Matt Mahan organized a "community meeting" for the Deer Run residents last Sunday under the guise that he desired to "collaborate" with the homeowners on the future of the growing encampment. It was revealed very quickly that he had already had a plan in motion and collaboration was not on his agenda. Incredibly underhanded and slimey. The community already spoke on this subject when Sergio tried this several years back and it was a resounding NO by the majority. Matt, the answer is still NO.

Strongly OPPOSE further objecting this neighborhood to additional low income and free homeless housing. We already live next to a train track. How degraded do you want this neighborhood? There is absolutely no reason all the open county land in the more expensive Almaden area of D10 can’t be utilized. Or is it that you don’t want to lose those valuable donors, Mahan? This strategy of, come clean 2 days before you vote on it, very underhanded and transparent as well. Stop and do the right thing.
I oppose the development of buildings for the homeless on Monterey and Branham, and Monterey and Skyway. My children go to the schools and libraries within walking distance. This is an invitation for crimes against children. It will also make San Jose a less desirable place to live and become worse and worse. Shouldn’t we try and make San Jose a proud and safe place to live in instead?

I have children that have been attending Davis and who go to the library.I fear their safety for walking to school. I have to drive them.My children also go to the library, they wait for me there so they don’t have to walk through the homeless area.If they build those home my children would NOT be able to go the library.there so many homeless people walking around all drugged out.It’s bad enough that the crime rate has gone up during this pandemic.The stealing and trying to break into homes.
