8.4 23-842 City Initiatives Roadmap: Recreational Vehicles Communities Support Parking and Emergency Interim Housing. - TO BE HEARD CONCURRENTLY WITH ITEM 8.5
The community we are living is already very limited and narrow for us. It is not convenient for us for shopping, parking and doing any other entertainment. We don’t want to share our limited resources with large group of homeless people.
I understand that it is a necessary and helpful facility for the unhoused, but I disagree that it should be located so close to the densely populated residential area, upcoming parks and the Bart station. Different locations should be explored. I am a concerned parent with kids.
Our community is quiet, new and surrounded by lots of new development. If we let homeless people live here, all the previous development will be wasted. I am firmly opposed to this proposal.
Strongly oppose due to safety, law and order, destruction of environment, blight, garbage reasons. This is CA/Sacramento problem and they should own this. Why does San Jose want to become a magnet for homeless and mentally deranged people from CA and USA?
As a victim of a recent burglary in this neighborhood, I strongly oppose this item. Encouraging RVs as a solution for emergency housing for homeless people raises significant safety concerns, particularly for individuals like me who have already experienced the trauma of burglary. We don't even feel safe living in our own house, and this proposal will even make this situation worse.
The areas that are more further from housing and Shopping centers, which are more suitable for dealing with SJ Homeless Issues is:
Between E Taylor St/Mabury Rd & Las Plumas Ave and HWY 101 & those abandoned railroad tracks behind the Slakey Brother building.
Even better is between I-880 & W Hedding and Coleman & Spring St.
And between W Hedding & Emory St and Wainut St & Guadalupe River.
