Strongly oppose. We elected this mayor and district rep to solve problems - not create more problems for our district in San Jose. This is a terrible idea.
Oppose due to health and safety concerns in the surrounding areas. Crimes have already increased, and this will introduce even more potential crimes. I do not support this idea of as the city will eventually neglect and further issues stemming from opening this lot for the homeless.
Strongly oppose to using $18.9 million to lease back to Terreno Realty for a 10-year lease, which bought the land at 1300 Berryessa for $23 million in 2021. This is an imprudent use of City's money. The actual cost is going to be higher with management fees, security, and cost to install water, shower, and sewage lines. Mayor Mahan, I elect you to handle homelessness and not to waste tax payer's money to play musical chair to move homelessness among districts within the City of San Jose.
This is a waste of city services and funds that we pay hard-working tax dollars for. We do not want to see more garbage, crime, and drug use in our neighborhood. Creating this RV park will attract more homelessness to the area thus increasing the negative impacts to our community. I strongly urge the city to find alternatives perhaps in a less densely populated area. Please think about the adverse impacts this will have to our ways of living for the local residents and surrounding area.
Oppose the 1300 Berryessa RV proposal. I wholeheartedly support the need for safe haven parking for the unhoused population... But the burden of supporting our unhoused needs to be spread fairly among ALL of the SJ districts as well as within our own District 4. The neighbors around 1300 Berryessa are supporting the Mabury (Berryessa BART) Tiny Homes community project. The new RV proposed plot is less than 2 miles away. We can not push all of the burden on the Berryessa Rd area.
Strongly oppose, I would highly suggest better development plans than just use it as a RV parking lot for homeless, please take environmental and safer neighborhood as priority motivator for future development plans for this site.
