I don’t think this is a good approach, especially unfair to the people as they did nothing wrong and still struggle to get a life under the same circumstances
OPPOSE. I support helping "ALL" community members not just tenants. Gv Newsom already signed moratoreum on evictions which protects tenants who can't pay yet preserving right to collect money owed. If the city chooses drown the landlords in order to save the tenants, I suggest targeting large corp landlords, as they have larger pool of tenants to spread impact. Mom/Pop landlords rely on this income not just to keep the property afloat, but to even cover their own personal and medical expenses.
House owners are affected by COVID-19 as well. They also need money to raise children, pay mortgage and facing the job security problem in this special period. Rent is a big amount to most of the house owners for covering their costs. They need support by the government as well, but not being put into a harder situation like this. This is unfair and unconstitional. Oppse!!!
Strongly oppose. If you put small home owners into bankruptcy, renters will lose their homes too. Think about how the financial crisis happened in 2008.
I strongly oppose this proposal!
It is unfounded, unfair, unconstitutional and unjustified. This COVIND-19 pandemic impacts everyone, including the property owner, not just the tenant. Lots of us property owner rely on the monthly paid rent to pay the property mortgage. If we can not collect mortgage, we may be unable to pay the mortgage and leave our mortgage account default. This is brazenly robbery and extortion from the city government if you let the propose pass. Please vote NO
It is unfair to pass the hardship from one group people to another. Property owners has mortgage and property tax to pay, but there is no similar measure to provide relief for property owners. If the city really wants to help tenants, city should use emergency fund/reserve to help those in need, rather than discriminating property owners and let property owners to carry the financial burden for all tenants. This proposal is unconstitutional and irresponsible. It will destroy the law.
This is an unfair act! Asking landlords to absorb the cost is not a solution! Both tenants and landlords are impacted the same way. The Govt should provide more assistance to people who are impacted! Do not shift your responsibility to the landlords!
I am strongly oppose the rent suspension. It is unconstitution. Rent income is my family only source of income. If city pass the rent suspension, my family will be displaced. Because I won't have money to feed my children and take them to see doctor, I can't pay mortgage, property tax, insurance, etc. We are in this together. Why city is trying diving landlord and tenant? It is the time for working together not divided.
Oppose!!!!

This will effect landlord’s income as there’s still expense on mortgage, property tax, HOA fee. Please reconsider this seriously. Definite Oppose!!
